Candela Pietra

Candela Pietra

Università di Palermo, Italy

Pietra Candela is researcher at the Blood Brain Barrier Laboratory, directed by Fabien Gosselet and located at the faculty of Lens in France. Her Ph.D. work consisted in the transcytosis of lipoproteins low density (LDL) and ? amyloid peptide (Aß) across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) using an in vitro BBB model. After her PhD, she was recruited as ATER (Temporary Attaché for Education and Research) at Jean Perrin Faculty, University of Artois-LBHE. Then she completed a post-doctoral contract at the INSERM institut where she studied in vitro the role of LRP1 receptor (low density receptor Related Protein 1) in the cerebral metabolism of ?-amyloid peptide
