Major for animal science. From September 2006 to July 2008, Dr. Liao received her Master programs of study in College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Jilin University (JLU), China. Major: animal science and animal nutrition. From September 2008 to December 2012, Dr. Liao received her Ph.D. programs of study in College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Jilin University (JLU), China. Major: veterinary medicine.
From July 2012-June 2013, Dr. Liao worked in Institute of Special Economic Animal and Plant Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He was a Assistant Professor of Toxicology Science at the Institute of Special Economic Animal and Plant Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. From July 2013 to Present, Dr. Liao worked in Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was a Assistant Professor of Toxicology Science at the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her current research interests include Mycotoxins for gastro-intestinal tract (GIT) health and some functional nutrients or Chinese herbal medicine triggered protective mechanism for intestinal cells using pig as a research model. Considering that the GIT and the immune system of pigs are not vastly different from those of humans, the pig can be regarded as a good model that can be applied to humans.
Since July 2014, Dr. Liao has been supporting as National Natural Science Foundation of China (grant no. 31402088) for deoxynivalenol (DON) research program. The program name: the protective mechanisms of arginine and glutamic acid in intestinal porcine epithelial cells after DON exposure. Fusarium infection of wheat, barley and corn with concurrent production of DON and other trichothecene mycotoxins is an increasing food safety concern worldwide. Our research interests was confirmed the functional nutrients or Chinese herbal medicine for protective using pig model and cells. We have recently discovered that dietary supplementation with L-Arginine exerts a protective role in pigs fed DON-contaminated diet.
