Educated in the Netherlands, Australia, and the United States, Bernard Schreurs has a long-standing interest in studying Alzheimer’s Disease both from an animal model point of view and with his involvement in establishing a large patient registry. Together with the late Larry Sparks, he demonstrated the role of cholesterol and copper in learning using the cholesterol-fed rabbit model of Alzheimer’s Disease that shows as many as 16 pathological hallmarks of the disease.
