Biography:

Dr. Andrea Chiricozzi attended medical school at the
University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, Italy, graduating in 2007. In 2011, he completed his residency as a dermatologist at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where he continues to work in the Department of Dermatology, headed by Prof. Sergio Chimenti. His scientific activity was further developed at the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology at the Rockefeller University in New York, USA, where he continues to serve as a visiting dermatologist under the department head, Prof. James G. Krueger.
A specialist in skin immunology, Dr. Chiricozzi focuses his research on chronic skin inflammation and the pathogenic circuits underlying the formation of skin lesions, particularly in terms of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Of noteworthy significance is his work concerning the role of IL-17 in cutaneous disorders. Through his scientific endeavors, he aspires to further
understanding of immunologic mechanisms of inflammatory skin diseases in order to identify novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of these disabling inflammatory skin diseases. He  was honored with the prestigious Leo-Pharma Research Silver Award in 2012 for the promising findings he obtained during his fellowship at the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology, The Rockefeller University, New York, USA, which started in 2008.
